Lindsay Hawkins

Lindsay Hawkins is originally from Columbus, Indiana, and is an artist, educator and choreographer. For the past three years she served as Assistant Professor of Dance and Director of the dance program at Rockford University in Illinois. Prior to her time in Rockford, Lindsay held adjunct faculty appointments at many universities in St. Louis including Lindenwood, Webster, Wash U, and SLU. She danced for twelve seasons with MADCO (Modern American Dance Co, St. Louis, MO) where she served as Assistant Rehearsal Director. MADCO has performed more than fifteen of her works in their repertory and she has re-staged many works for the company throughout the years. Lindsay has set commissioned work on universities and dance companies throughout the Midwest including Leverage Dance Theater, Common Thread Contemporary Dance Company, CoMoDance, MADCO and MADCO2, the Lindenwood University Dance Program, the Wash U Dance Collective, and the University of Kansas. She was also on faculty at Arts in Motion School of Dance and Music in Brentwood for thirteen years before moving to Rockford. Lindsay earned her MFA from the University of Arizona’s School of Dance, and her BFA from Southern Methodist University. She is currently teaching with SIUE’s Department of Theater and Dance.
